Castle Medical Centre
Prior to the start of the NHS in 1948, a Doctor Hughes ran the practice. Doctor Michael Clements (now deceased) arrived in the late 1940s when the practice was located on Warwick Road in what is now the “Peacock” Hotel.
Subsequently, the practice moved to the old “Convalescent Hospital” on the High Street, and finally a purpose built surgery was built on the Bertie Road site in 1981. This was substantially enlarged in 1995 and the name changed to the “Castle Medical Centre”. Two further extensions were completed in 1998 and 2005.
The Surgery will be closed on Thursday 9th February, 2012 from 12.30pm.
If you need urgent medical advice, please call the surgery and listen to the pre-recorded message. You will be given the number for the out of hours service, who will triage your call and arrange for you to be seen by a GP, if necessary.
The surgery doors will remain open, for pre-booked appointments and the reception desk will be open to collect prescriptions and make routine appointments. All urgent requests will be directed by the reception staff to the out of hours service.
We have just completed our first Patient Reference Group Survey. The results will be published shortly.
